V.3

Coming soon…the trilogy chapter, the phoenix rising, the return, the (site cost) renewal, a threesome, three shots of vodka, the best Kaman rider (the only one I remember from when I was a kid)…

Getting more personal, becoming more public, still putting shit out there on the internet.

New items to tag and possible future posts about: Playstation 3, Blu-ray, Weber Smokey Mountain, Dr. Marten Cappers, Nike Air Jordan Alpha 1, food stuff, drink stuff, stuff stuff.

To be continued.

Big Screen

A box containing my leap into the world of HD is just sitting in my house. I decided upon the 46″ Samsung (it’s actually pretty ridiculous with the name/model info…there’s so many new televisions being released, redundant specs but little tweaks here and there so it’s got a different number, I just kind of refer to the one I got as the Series 8 or “8000″…or the “LED LCD” one…the, not the newest, top of the line one that just came out, that’s the model’s second version release of the year for my t.v., which costs $1,000 more) UN46B8000. I decide on the cost savings over the most current model UN46B8500 and with Crutchfield, a free 19″ LCD, with free shipping and no sales tax. But the Samsung wall mount that I also ordered is arriving on Monday. I think the HDMI cables are scheduled to arrive Saturday. So there’s the t.v., in its box, in my house looking pretty. Hopefully, much prettier when it’s up and running. I’ll let you know. Or maybe my eyeballs will be stuck to the back of my brain…in a good way.

Hero Here

Finally upgraded my phone to a Sprint HTC Hero. I actually got it a few days ago, and then had to wait a few more days after I updated my phone plan and my account needed to reflect the change in order to activate the Hero. And now after a couple of days, I’ve think I’ve finally got it sort of figured out and configured to my preferences…so far. The notables include things such as:

Mine does have the “with Google” tag, EV-DO Rev A on the network type and Android Cupcake 1.5.

The HTC Pouch S491 will work for the Sprint version Hero very nicely.

Make sure the Sprint representative, that I always end up having to call because their online activation is stupid and never works for me–not user error either, has actually activated a Hero before and you’re not popping their Sprint Hero cherry. This is prevent you from having to unnecessarily open the back cover and remove the battery.

If you can’t ever get an iPhone through your wireless carrier, it’s good that you don’t have to resort to Windows Mobile.

Dead pixels are a part of life and the LCD.

Fooling around with the security lock pattern is not advised, unless you can self-analyze yourself and try to remember what your tendencies are and figure out what your pattern was after it’s set and you don’t know what it was.

Work Pen

I guess I’m not the only one who has a preference for a finer point Pilot G2 and as I sorta already knew, the “fine” point of the G2 is still too fat. I had already planned on picking up one of the Sharpie “pens” since I’ve been previous using a Sharpie ultra fine point marker, but when I saw the Uni-ball Signo 207 I was whoosed back to high school and my trusty ol’ Uni-ball Micro Point Rollerball pen and picked up a two-pack of the Signo 207s. I’ve yet to try it out, but as long as it stays a fine point, doesn’t bleed (or bleed too much in the rain and snow), watch out scratch paper, napkins and here comes the return of pen and ink scribblings.

You know it’s October when…

The liquor store starts selling the liquor gift sets, it gets colder, Pyramid’s Snow Cap Ale, you get sick and the Red Sox play (the Angels) in the playoffs. The Packers have a bye this Sunday, the Celtics started the preseason and lost, but tonight’s baseball occasion is calling for a nice, homemade, (medium) rare roast beef, hard rolls, au jus, Ritz crackers and a relish tray with Uncle Dan’s dip.

First game of the season, Bruins-Capitals NHL hockey game, Molson Ice. Goal before next spring, kill the mole and play an entire song on the guitar. Knit beanie hat. Red Sox-Angels in the first round, playoff baseball series. Packers. Upkeep the drinking. Keep on the writing. Site reloaded for one more year.

A fucking B fucking C.

I’ve got a response to those school teachers in Kent deciding to/for strike/ing…it reminds me of my parents and what they said about doing my homework, studying and going to school, et al…just go do your work and get it done.

DVRland

I’m now incurring charges for my cable bill as I have been sucked into the world of the DVR (at least it’s not the world of “moick,” a.k.a. Tivo). The first thing I recorded on my DVR was the recent pre-season Packers versus Cardinals football game on the NFL Network. As it was, the broadcast was Phoenix-biased…I’m not quite sure how it’s determined which team’s broadcast is decided to be shown since it’s not a “neutral” national broadcast network.

For the DVR itself, I’m really enjoying the repeat/rewind/replay function of live t.v. There are some quirks I’ve noticed with the new Motorola DVR box, but that’s just probably due to me not having an HD t.v. and the box being HD (rocking the composite cables connection!)…like the double letterbox and sidebox on HD channels during SD portions of the broadcast, i.e. commercials. Or the slightly curved digital display lines on the box. At least the functions seem to respond faster than other DVRs.

I’ll be sure to update if there’s a flying HD t.v. coming down the pike.

Update: I completed viewing the recording. Regardless of it being a pre-season game, that was an awesome half game by the Packers (and the Cardinals if you count playing the second string), a really good complete game…that is until I realized I put the stop/end time as “on time” and the game probably went one more minute than what was recorded. Doh!

Tuna Can Monster Watch

There’s no time to fool around with the mickey mouse stuff when it comes to buying a watch. And unless you’re buying your next jewelry watch from a jewelry store, i.e., Rolex or Tag Heuer, why not get a solid watch from a top shelf watch site, straight from Japan from Seiya Japan. Incredible customer service, prompt delivery (internationally), what could be better but probably being able to walk into a store to see the display of kick-ass watches and knowledgeable staff. Considering how much online searching you might do to even find information on a good watch, it’s doubtful you will find another site to even get you the goods for you other than Seiya…get something good like my new “good” watch (Seiko Tuna Can)…or “work” watch (Seiko Black Monster).
